Everywhere I go I see people walking and driving, sitting in a car “on the phone”.  I had just seen a Matisse exhibit at the Naples Museum of Art spring 2005 and the idea of this painting came to me.  I had seen two teenage girls get out of a car, walk side by side close together, “friends” – yet both were “on the phone”.  I had to do this painting, it is my commentary on society in 2005.  This is my first in a series of four paintings.
