This was my father’s favorite Psalm and he would tell me that he hoped and prayed his children and grandchildren would love the Lord and we do. I painted this after his death and included all of my immediate family at the age of innocence (ages 4 6) and in clothes we actually wore.
My father is seated on a rooster, is wearing a 1904 dress and has a crown on his head as he is in heaven. My son is on the antique horse as he was always moving quickly. Mother is in a dress from 1908 on an ostrich as she was a little Queen. Our daughter is featured on a rabbit, she is very gentle and kind. My husband is on Aslan the Lion. And I am on a tiger. All of the animals I found in the Museum in Dearborn, Michigan where a collection of antique carousels is housed. The circles depict life. We are either moving forward or backward. The doves represent the Holy Spirit and the wild rose is Christ, all helpers to us in our journey here on earth.
